It is pretty much accepted that WordPress is the best and most popular medium for blogging, it’s versatility and ongoing development have made it an outright winner in the war for the best blogging platform. It is no surprise that affiliate marketers have also made it their first choice when it comes to building cms websites and sales blogs.
So that said which is the best theme for affiliate marketers?
There are many things to consider when choosing a theme for your wordpress site and everyone has an idea of what their prefered layout should look out. I use all four of the themes below as they all have a specific job that they are good for.
Built in SEO – I have used lots of themes for my blogs and have come to recognize that they are not all created equal when it comes to being search engine friendly. Most people will just use a few plugins and hope for the best, however it takes more than that to be truly SEO friendly and I have found that premium themes offer so much more when it comes to this.
Ease of use – What is the point of having an amazing looking theme if you can’t install it or find it a pain to configure the way it looks, stay away from anything that causes you pain, there are so many good easy to use themes available.
Eye catching design – Everybody who has something that they have pured their heart and soul into wants it to be shown it a great light so you want your wordpress them to reflect it. Make sure you look for a theme that is pertinent to what you are blogging about. For example if you are affiliate marketing you don’t want a party blog or vice-versa.
Price and Terms of license - There are some really nice themes available which are totally free of charge which is great, however I have always preferred to buy a nice premium theme that has all the bells and whistles. I do this for a couple of reasons; premium themes are usually cutting edge in the way they handle SEO which is imperative if you want your site to rank and get visitors. I don’t want by site to look like millions of others on the web and I want to be able to get the right support whenever I need it.
You also have to be very careful about terms of licence i.e how many domains you can use it with, whether or not you can remove any footer information and so on.
Comparing The Themes
I have considered what is available and have condensed them down to four of my favorites, which has to be said I am an affiliate marketer so what is good for me might not be great for someone who is building a membership site or a dating blog.
I really like the Affiliate Theme, I purchased this theme a while back and use it on various product affiliate sites to promote Amazon and other physical products. It is great for this as it allows you to build review type blogs with ease. It is very simple to use and has great support. It is very lightweight and quick to install. There are loads of colour variations and built in headers for many kinds of products and services, which can be switched in and out with a simple click. All in all this is a fantastic wordpress theme for affiliate marketers.
The Socrates theme is new to the market and has been getting some great reviews, aimed squarely at affiliate marketers Socrates is a joy to use. It has many features which can simply be dragged and dropped into place, such as automatically inserting your clickbank and google id’s into offers . Built in SEO is another great benefit with Socrates and as it has been built from the ground up by 2 of the top super affiliates it can be shaped to suit every kind of affiliate marketing.
The Thesis Theme is a heavyweight amongst the wordpress community and has been used for thousands of different blogs. I has the best SEO attributes out of any of the themes I have used and is one of my favorite themes. It is so powerful it can be used with very few plugins as most of the best plugins have been hard coded into the theme itself. If you want to change the look and feel of Thesis you can do so by applying what is termed as “hooks” to the parts of the page you wish to change.
Thesis is extremely powerful and gives fantastic support via a very helpful community forum, however if you are new to wordpress I wouldn’t advise using Thesis until you have a working knowledge as some of the configuration is not so easy as others I have mentioned.
My favorite theme out of all those available at the moment has to be The Nexus Theme from Rocket-Themes, this is just a great theme to work with and is what I built this site with. I has so many cool features I have not seen anywhere else. From getting great SEO built in to being able to insert featured posts and offer this theme truly rocks. The support is amazing and if you don’t like the look you can change it with ease. I can thoroughly recommend taking a look at Rocket-themes.
