Boosting Backlinks Through Social Media







I posted about the so called “Google Panda” algorithm change earlier this week and felt that I should expand on ways that will yield results when searching for those important backlinks. In these time of changing algorithms and Googles propensity to change the way they rank pages, it is becoming more important to use a proven strategy to target SEO,  with that in mind exactly which SEO strategies carry real weight.

Social Media is still the one stand out way of getting better rankings for your blog or website, communication via all the Social Media platforms can catapult your website up the search engines quicker than any other medium.

So how can you get the best from using Social Media? If you enjoy socializing on Twitter or Facebook you are already halfway there, you just have to be able to tie your blog posts to your conversation. When you think Social Media you immediately think of social bookmarking and linking your profile signature to your account with relevant anchor text is the way to go, and although it will give you quality backlinks there are more powerful tactics that can be leveraged.

Clever Use  of Content

In the past it has always been accepted that content is king and that hasn’t changed, Google has a thirst for original, relevant content and will reward you for your hard work. You need to think out of the box when leveraging content, simply sending it to article directories is no longer enough, post it on your Facebook Wall, announce it on the popular Web 2.0 platforms, such as wordpress, Tumblr, posterous etc.

  • Every time you post you should also tweet about it and include a link to the post. You need to make use of these powerful social media streams as they are the key to getting huge amounts of traffic. Explore the possibilities by using Social
  • Join forums that are relevant to your niche and try to stimulate conversation, share that conversation on your Facebook page, tweet about it.
  • Make use of services  and Social media tools such as hootsuite.com and socialoomph.com, these services together with pingfm can send your links around the web within minutes.
